2020
New partnerships were formed and

Colorado Health Foundation to expand
SCC’s non-clinical peer support
Aurora Mental Health Center (AuMHC)
to integrate mental health care with
SCC’s peer mentoring in a familiar
trusted setting
Public Welfare Foundation, which
awarded SCC it’s first ever direct
service grant
In March, the COVID 19 pandemic
swept the country, and SCC staff
worked around the clock to find safe
housing and provide services for our
vulnerable client-partners.
In December, SCC purchased our own
building at 224 Potomac.
2021
In January, we moved into our new
two-story home and began welcoming
client-partners.

2019
Providence at the Heights: we broke
ground in January.
As part of the Colorado Health
Foundation’s focus on health equity
and racial justice work, SCC received
$1M to fund the Never Going Back
Endowment.
In April, we took on a new population
as the Crime Prevention and Control
Commission awarded SCC the contract
for re-entry services at the Denver City
and County Jail.
Governor Polis
signed nine
reform bills
into law at SCC.
One restored
voting rights
to people on parole, giving more than
11,400 people the opportunity to make
their voices heard.
In November 2021, Hassan Latiff
transitioned to the role of Founder and
Khalil Halim succeeded as Executive
Director. Khalil, an Army veteran who
was also formally incarcerated, is a
founding board member and joined the
organization in 2020 as the Director of
Care Management.
He played an integral role in the form
and development of SCC, while also
mentoring Hassan personally and
professionally. Khalil previously worked
as the Deputy Executive Director for It
Takes A Village for 12 years and served
on several Governor and Mayoral
appointed boards and committees.
2022
In FY 2022 we served 1,884 clientpartners in our Aurora Center, 742 at
our Denver City & County Jail re-entry
site, “SCC in the City,” and 48 adults/13
children in our permanent support
housing development, Providence at the
Heights.
We purchased land
in Denver to build the
Residences on Acoma,
128 apartments for
client-partners at
different stages along
their recovery and re-entry journey. CHFA
has awarded the tax credits and for the
first time, SCC will be the developer.
The Impact 100 Employment Opportunity
Lab opened in the spring with the
capacity to serve 1200 people annually.
2023
SCC experienced significant growth
and success across its services,
with a remarkable 135% increase in
overall participation and a substantial
227% rise in total services provided
compared to 2022. Notable increases
were observed in various areas,
including employment placements
(163% increase), industry-recognized
certifications (340% increase), and
transportation services (1,180%
increase). These achievements
underscore SCC’s dedication to its
mission of empowering individuals
and communities through effective
programs and services.
