Hope Through Housing:
SCC’s Commitment to
Housing Solutions
HOUSING
In 2024, Second Chance Center remained deeply
committed to creating pathways to secure,
supportive housing for justice-involved
individuals, ensuring they have a place to
call home as they transition back into the
community.
The lack of secure housing options is
one of the most significant barriers to
successful reentry for justice-involved
individuals. Without access to safe,
affordable housing, individuals face
an uphill battle as they strive to
reintegrate into society. The availability
of transitional housing in Denver has
decreased by more than 50% in recent
years, leading to waitlists of up to nine
months. As a result, many individuals
face prolonged periods of instability
without access to the resources they
need to rebuild their lives.
Justice-involved individuals are
10 times more likely to experience
homelessness than the general
population and over 60% of SCC client
partners returning from prison do not
have housing upon intake.
Through strategic partnerships and
a range of funding opportunities, SCC
proudly offered various housing support
options designed to meet the unique needs
of justice-involved individuals. Our continued
work to expand housing options, strengthen
partnerships, and advocate for policy change is
critical in supporting the successful reentry and
long-term stability of those who need it most. We
are committed to not only changing lives but also
contributing to a stronger, more resilient community
for all.
